Celebration: It was almost twenty years ago when Christians from around the globe first began setting aside an annual day of prayer and fasting for some of the most unreached people groups of our world. Have their prayers made an impact? Yes, and in many exciting ways. Some of it cannot be told while other things may not be known until the Day the Lord comes back. But when one believer found out that Christians in America were praying for her people, she couldn’t help but express gratitude for she knows what happens when God’s people pray.

The Jack Gilliland Story: In 2007, during the Day of Prayer & Fasting for World Evangelization event, Southern Baptists began praying for an unreached people group in Russia called the Udmurts. Jack Gilliland, Pastor of a small church in Arkansas, was not only one of those who prayed for the Udmurts, but he has put feet to his prayers and is helping and working towards getting the gospel to the Udmurtia people. But changes are on the horizon that may determine what Jack and others can and cannot do among the Udmurts; changes that may keep him one day from going to Russia, but it will not keep him from pleading on his knees.
The Mark Hooks Story: For almost twenty years, Christians from around the globe have set aside a day each year to pray and fast for some of the most unreached people groups of our world. Have their prayers made an impact? Yes, but not without a great deal adversity and strain. Missionary Marc Hooks has seen and experienced it firsthand, but on his recent Russia trip to Udmurtia, it went up a whole notch. Going to Udmurtia to report on what God has done among the Udmurts since the 2007 Day of Prayer & Fasting for World Evangelization event, Marc found himself instead becoming more a part of the story then he really wanted to.
