The International Mission Board encourages Southern Baptists to give through the Cooperative Program and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for international missions through their local churches. We do, however, offer online giving options to individuals to support strategic priority needs. We also present information about making planned gifts.

Africa Challenge:
Strategic Priority Needs

Amhara Discipleship Project
Our objective is to reach the illiterate (majority) Amhara people of Ethiopia with the Bible and gospel, using a method they can understand, Bible stories. The project involves two organizations using cassette distribution and radio broadcasts of Bible stories for evangelism and discipleship. In conjunction with this, other strategies include training leaders, setting-up storying groups and forming house churches, which will also enable follow-up of the radio broadcasts. Our goal is to establish a church planting movement among the Amhara. Total cost for this 5 year project is 323,700 of which 161,850 is needed for our part of the partnership. First year: radio time for two 30 minute programs/week and 800 cassettes. Each year radio time and cassette production increase. Fifth year: Seven 30 minute programs/week and 4800 tapes. 82420-240-073-2005

Gutenburg II
Gutenberg II is a unique, innovative and groundbreaking project, bringing key Bible characters to life. Seventeen Bible characters in all, from Adam to Abraham, David and key prophets, as well as the Gospel story and Acts will all come to life in these character driven dramas. The GII stories are entertaining, appealing and engaging as standalone products. They are designed to address the major bridges and barriers of our target audience. More importantly, the stories are also linked through a gentle weaving of major Biblical themes that communicate God’s greater purpose of redemption through Jesus Christ. The Gutenberg printing press revolutionized the world by making the Bible available to all who could read. Gutenberg II will take the printed Bible stories and develop them for television for people who do not read and are oral communicators. This video series is written and produced in Arabic. It will be dubbed into many other languages and dialects, giving people their first and maybe only opportunity to hear the life changing message of the Bible. Join us as we work to bring the stories of God’s love to millions who have never heard in a way that they can see, hear, understand and call their own. 82420-243-355-2001

HF Radios for S. Africa
Many Southern Africa Missionaries live in areas where there are either limited phone service or no phones exist. We have found that HF radios work well as communication tools between mission stations and admin offices. They provide a security system when health needs arrise and give the ability to communicate at low costs once networks are estabilished. HF transcievers would be purchased from this account. 87102-742-011-2003

N Djamena Culture Center for Evangelism and Discipleship
N Djamena is a mini gateway city to the unreached peoples of Chad. There are over 120 people groups, most of which are unreached. There must be a city strategy along with ongoing village strategies to see the C. Arabs and other PG`s reached. The center is a neutral place where students and professionals can come to study books and read local newspapers available in the library. There is no other place like this in the Muslim side of town. Through the library, English and French classes, games and movies, we are able to come in contact with M`s from every people in Chad. After having made contact with an M from the ATI area we were able to visit that town for the first time with someone who was from there. Our welcome was wonderful because we came with one of their own. Now there is a medical project that is prospering. Through English classes and clubs we chronologically go through Bible stories to teach the highest level of English. We have a captive audience of Muslims representing almost all of the UPG`s gathering for 6-8 months, to study the Word. The center serves as our platform base office as well as a literature and tape distribution place for GCC partners. We are able to do tape duplicating and distribution, and are also able to disciple and mentor new MBB`s in Christian work ethic by working part time at the center. We are also able to teach some basic computer skills. Students become well equiped spiritually and with skills to be valuable contributors to their community. The center is also a place where short term teams can have an immediate impact on the work, doing seminars on specific fields, doing drama, etc. That is sowing the Word. The center is well respected in the Muslim community during it`s 47+ years of operations. The funds will go to rent the center, electricity/generator, Librarian and administrator, teachers, books, and overall maintenance. 82420-240-017-2004

Nairobi Business as Mission
Your giving can help the Nairobi Business as Mission team implement a holistic ministry to reach the residents of high density population areas in Nairobi, Kenya (slums and low-income apartments). Kenyan nationals who display a commitment to radical obedience to the Great Commission will be intensely trained in a proven evangelism technique for oral learners (Chronological Bible Storying) and held accountable for conducting weekly house or cell group meetings. These "disciples" will also acquire training in the production of small leather products and receive the opportunity to earn a modest living (approximately 250 per month) to support their families. Sema is the Swahili word for "talk" or "say", so your support of Sema Leatherworks will truly be used to "Speak the Gospel"! 87300-240-014-2008

North Africa One Story Projects
These funds will be used to carry out fifteen OneStory projects among unreached, largely non-literate people groups of Northern Africa and the Middle East. None of the targeted people groups has the Bible in the language and format they can understand. OneStory exists to develop, initiate and facilitate oral strategies to communicate God's Word to oral peoples who are unreached resulting in sustainable, indigenously led, reproducing church planting movements which transform lives and societies to reflect a biblical worldview. Through OneStory projects and training, we can provide scripture simultaneously to each of these unreached oral people groups. 82410-240-014-2006

Training Tanzania's Future Leaders
Be a part of reaching Tanzania for Christ! Decentralized (non-residential) training is the most effective way to reach Tanzanians for leadership training. The TAWI schools have been designed by IMB missionaries in Tanzania and have begun to produce 2nd and 3rd generation church planting through sound doctrinal training and modeling of minsitry - on site where leaders are working in their churches. While Tanzanians fund 50% of the cost of the schools help is needed for this critially strategic program. The TAWI schools form the core component of the IMB's strategy for leadership training in Tanzania. The funding requested for this progam will cover two years of 50% operational expenses. Please help train the future generation of Tanzanians to reach Tanzania for Christ. 87300-379-001-2008
